The Gathering Place is located in a 3-story Victorian brick house built in 1910 and is located on Congress Street, downtown Athens, Ohio.
The drop-in center was established in 1976, and the building boasts a front porch, and a big back porch where members can hang out, the facility provides a homelike atmosphere and is a welcoming environment for members to visit, recover, socialize, and relax together. The house has undergone two major renovations, one in 2014 of removing the original boiler system and installing two HVAC systems and renovating the attic into a multipurpose room for meetings, and space for yoga, art and music making. In 2019, the kitchen was expanded and renovated to provide more space for our major Health and Wellness programming, education on food preparation and nutrition and preparing daily meals.
