Purpose & Goals
The purpose of Athens Mental Health Inc., is to recognize, respond, and adapt to the mental health needs of the community. For individuals with mental health and substance use disorders, AMH shall provide advocacy; a model for healthy living, a homelike atmosphere where friendships may grow, information sharing, mental health education, peer support, and other self-determined mental health needs. AMH shall strive to provide assistance, support, and advocacy for each Member in developing and realizing their individual plan for recovery. Recovery is seen as an individual’s process and progress.
The Board of Trustees shall consist of not more than twelve (12) members of which one half shall be House Members who identify as a peer; and one half shall be Community Members; those being individuals with special skills from the community, and may include individuals with a medical, mental health, financial, legal background, or those with proficient skills in seeking and securing outside funding and skills necessary to successfully operate AMH and exhibiting leadership and advocacy in the mental health community.
